Living with Dobermans
Before purchasing a Doberman, ask yourself
what quality of life he would have with you.
Do you have a fenced yard where he could run
& play? Dobermans are high energy dogs.
If you spend most of the day away from home,
he'll need a large yard in which to run and play,
he might need a playmate too,to keep him from
getting lonely.
We frown upon crating dogs; unless it's for
training or transportation purposes only.
Dobermans long to be part of their family group.
We like to see them have a home in which they
will be treated like a family member.
Spend time with your Dobe- train him, take
him places, let him be a part of your life.
This is what a Dobe wants. And this is what we
want for all of our puppies.
Purchasing
  • When looking for a puppy to purchase,
don't be fooled into believing that
just because the parents are Champions,
that the puppy will be healthy and of
good temperament. Ask the breeder to
supply you with copies of the parents'
    health testing, which should include
as many of the tests that we previously
listed. Also, ask for any titles or
    certificates stating that the parents
are Good Citizens or have been trained
further in other areas. Ask for temperament
    testing certification. Meet both parents
of the puppies. Are they the type of Doberman
    that you envision yourself owning?
If you have decided that the parents are
of the type, temperament and soundness
(health) that you desire, then go ahead
    and look at the puppies.
  • Your next decision is what color and gender
    do you desire?
Hopefully the litter will consist of
all five colors and plenty of both gender.
Spend lots of time playing with the puppies
and getting to know their personalities,
afterall, he will be spending the rest of
    his life with you.
  • When filling out the AKC paperwork for
puppy purchase, be aware that the breeder
will mark one of two boxes on the puppy's
    registration application; either the 'Limited'
box, or the 'Full' box. Know what this means,
and what you desire before the time comes.
Also, stay away from silly contracts that
limit your rights and future with your dog.
